Ingredients
Scale
1 pound of large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
4 French bread rolls or hoagie buns
Shredded lettuce
Sliced tomatoes
Creole remoulade sauce
Oil for frying
Instructions
Start by marinating the shrimp in a bowl with buttermilk for about 15 minutes.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk, shake off excess liquid, and toss them in the seasoned flour mixture.
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
Working in batches, fry the coated shrimp for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
Transfer the shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Slice the French bread rolls and spread a generous amount of Creole remoulade sauce on each side. Layer with crisp lettuce, fried shrimp, and slices of fresh tomato. Drizzle with more remoulade.
Serve immediately while the shrimp are hot and crispy.
