- 2–3 pounds of live blue crabs (Dungeness or snow crabs as substitutes)
- 1.5 pounds of baby red potatoes (Yukon gold potatoes as substitutes)
- 4 ears of corn, cut into thirds (frozen corn on the cob as substitutes)
- 1 pound of andouille sausage, sliced (kielbasa or turkey sausage as substitutes)
- 1/4 cup Old Bay Seasoning (mix of paprika, celery salt, black pepper as substitutes)
- 2 lemons, quartered
- 2 large onions, quartered (optional)
- 6 cloves garlic, smashed
- Salt to taste (consider sea salt for a rustic touch)
- 4–5 quarts of water
Instructions
- Begin by thoroughly cleaning your crabs. Rinse them under cold water and remove any debris.
- In a large pot, bring 4-5 quarts of water to a boil over high heat. Add your potatoes along with half of the Old Bay seasoning. Cook for about 15 minutes or until they begin to soften.
- Once the potatoes are tender, stir in the sliced sausage and corn. Let them cook together for another 10 minutes.
- Gently add the cleaned crabs into the pot along with the remaining Old Bay seasoning, lemon wedges, garlic, and onions. Cover the pot and let everything boil for another 10-15 minutes.
- Using a slotted spoon, carefully remove the seafood and vegetables from the pot and place them on a large serving platter.
