1 cup breadcrumbs (substitutions: crushed crackers, gluten-free breadcrumbs)
1 large egg (optional, for binding)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking
Instructions
Start by gathering all your ingredients. Ensure your vegetables are finely chopped, and set your spices within easy reach.
In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once the oil shimmers, toss in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions become translucent—around 3 to 4 minutes.
In a large bowl, mix the ground hamburger meat, sautéed onions and garlic, breadcrumbs, egg (if using), Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to combine the ingredients thoroughly.
Shape the meat mixture into uniform patties. The ideal thickness for burgers is around ¾ inch.
Heat your skillet back to medium-high. Cook the patties for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until browned and reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
Once cooked, allow the patties to rest for a few minutes before serving.
