Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef – Substitute with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
1 onion, chopped – The sweetness of a Vidalia onion can elevate the dish.
2 cloves garlic, minced – For that aromatic richness.
4 medium potatoes, sliced – Yukon gold or red potatoes work beautifully.
1 can (15 oz) green beans, drained – Fresh green beans can add a delightful crunch.
1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes – Use fire-roasted tomatoes for an extra flavor kick.
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese – Experiment with different cheese varieties.
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce – This enhances the umami taste.
Salt and pepper to taste – Essential for seasoning.
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes first, followed by the ground beef mixture, green beans, and diced tomatoes. Drizzle with Worcestershire sauce and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Cover the casserole with shredded cheddar cheese.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 60 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
