Ingredients
Scale
1 package (16 ounces) of phyllo dough
1 cup of unsalted butter (melted)
2 cups of walnuts (finely chopped)
3/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 cup of water
1 cup of honey
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine chopped walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon. Mix thoroughly.
Brush melted butter on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking pan. Layer one sheet of phyllo dough, brushing lightly with butter. Repeat with 8 sheets.
Sprinkle one-third of the walnut mixture over phyllo. Layer 4 more sheets of phyllo with butter in between.
Repeat layering with the filling two more times and finish with a final layer of phyllo.
Cut the layered phyllo into diamond-shaped pieces before baking.
Bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
Prepare the syrup by boiling water and honey for about 10 minutes, adding vanilla extract.
Immediately pour the syrup over hot baklava and allow it to cool completely.
