Ingredients
Scale
4 cups of all-purpose flour
2 ÂĽ teaspoons of active dry yeast
1 ½ cups of warm water
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 tablespoon of salt
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
Pour the frothy yeast mixture into the dry ingredients, along with melted butter. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for about 30-40 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough gently, turn it onto a floured surface, and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan, seam side down.
Cover the loaf with a towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes until it puffs up.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while your loaf is rising.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Remove the loaf from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack. Once cool, slice it into pieces.
