Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs of shrimp (peeled and deveined; substitute with crab or lobster for luxury)
  • 1 lb of blue crabs (or replace with snow crab legs)
  • 2 lbs of Yukon gold potatoes (for their buttery flavor; red potatoes work too)
  • 4 ears of corn (cut into thirds; consider frozen corn if fresh isn’t available)
  • 1/2 lb of smoked sausage (like Andouille; for a spicy kick)
  • 1/4 cup of Old Bay seasoning (or a homemade spice blend)
  • 1 lemon (halved; the zest adds brightness)
  • 1/4 cup of butter (both for richness and to drizzle)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish; consider dill or cilantro for variation)

  • Instructions

  • Start by thoroughly rinsing your seafood and vegetables under cold water. Remove any shells from the shrimp and cut the potatoes into quarters for quicker cooking.
  • Fill a large pot with water, add the Yukon gold potatoes, and bring it to a rolling boil. After about 10 minutes, add the corn and sliced sausage.
  • After adding corn and sausage for 10 minutes, gently add the shrimp and crabs along with the Old Bay seasoning.
  • Let the mixture boil for another 5-7 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and the crabs are heated through.
  • Once cooked, strain the seafood and vegetables and lay them out on a large table covered with butcher paper. Drizzle melted butter over the top and sprinkle with parsley.
