Description
Indulge in creamy cheesy delight with our irresistible Smoked Mac and Cheese A smoky twist on a classic that will elevate your comfort food experience
Ingredients
Scale
1 lb elbow macaroni
4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup smoked gouda cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
4 cups whole milk
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions
Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add in the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, according to package instructions. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the flour, whisking continuously for about 2 minutes until it forms a smooth roux. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until the mixture thickens.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and all the different cheeses until they melt and form a creamy sauce. Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika if desired.
Gently fold the cooked pasta into the cheese sauce until thoroughly combined. The pasta should be fully coated in that irresistible cheesy goodness.
Transfer the mac and cheese mixture into a greased baking dish. Top it with breadcrumbs for a crispy finish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for approximately 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
Once out of the oven, let your Smoked Mac and Cheese rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs for an extra touch and dig in!
