Instructions
Start by selecting your favorite bread and cheese. Lay them out on a clean surface.
Spread a generous layer of butter or drizzle olive oil on one side of each slice of bread.
Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in a skillet over medium heat. Layer your cheese slices on top, followed by optional add-ins. Top it off with the other slice of bread, buttered side up.
Cook the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt. Flip it over carefully and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
Once both sides are golden brown and the cheese is gooey, remove your grilled cheese from the skillet. Let it rest for a minute before slicing it diagonally.
